Sometimes you’ve got to sacrifice a bit.. all in the name of the blog. 😉
I’m a stubborn soul. I don’t like to give up on things until I’ve tried almost all options and that includes attempting to shrink articles of clothing at stores that only accept items returned in original condition.
I can tell that this trench vest, is most definitely not in original condition.
It is, however, smaller so whoopee for that. I no longer feel like I’m drowning in fabric, but the drape isn’t super ideal still. There was really no fixing that given the linen blend, but it’ll do for now. It doesn’t photograph horribly nor do I have cinch back 5 yards of fabric. This does not mean that I won’t be checking out the Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 trench vest though. I’m OK losing out on a bit of money knowing that I tried my best to make a cheaper alternative work.
If you’re interested in shrinking your trench vest, just wash it in hot water and dry on high. You’ll need to iron it afterwards to reshape as some of the hems got a bit wonkie. It took me around 20 minutes to get everything looking normal again.
On the plus side.. the shorts are finally back out. :3
